Wetlina, Mountain village in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland
Wetlina is a mountain village in Subcarpathian Voivodeship situated at the base of Smerek Mountain. The area sits within protected zones that include Bieszczady National Park and Cisniansko-Wetlinski Landscape Park.
The village was founded in 1580 under Wallachian Law and developed steadily for centuries afterward. World War II and Operation Vistula brought major upheaval and transformation to the community.
The remains of the former Church of Christ the King stand as evidence of the area's Eastern Rite religious heritage and past spiritual life. These ruins show how faith shaped the daily practices and identity of the local community.
The area offers over twenty kilometers of marked cross-country ski trails in winter and color-coded hiking paths throughout other seasons. Visitors should prepare for varying trail conditions depending on the time of year and elevation changes.
The village hosts two music festivals that have been running since the early 2000s in this remote mountain setting. One focuses on jazz while the other centers on reggae, bringing diverse audiences to the location.
