Nierozpoznani, Outdoor sculpture installation in Citadel Park, Poznań, Poland
Nierozpoznani is a cast iron sculpture group in Citadel Park in Poznań. The installation consists of 112 figures, each over 2 meters tall, standing in coordinated rows throughout the park.
Magdalena Abakanowicz created this monumental installation in 2002 for the city's 750th anniversary. The artist chose cast iron to emphasize the timelessness and permanence of the work.
The sculptures without heads and arms invite the viewer to think about identity and community. Their anonymous appearance transforms the park into a place of quiet encounter with the art installation.
The sculptures are freely accessible every day and are located near Za Cytadelą street. Walking through the installation takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
The 112 figures all share the same size but face different directions. This orientation creates changing shadows and perspectives at different times of day.
