Osiedle Centrum B, Socialist residential complex in Nowa Huta, Poland.
Osiedle Centrum B is a residential complex in Nowa Huta comprising eleven apartment blocks arranged in a ring formation with three vehicle gates and four pedestrian entrances. The apartments vary in size to accommodate different household needs.
The complex was built between 1950 and 1953 and was originally known as B-31 until it received its current name in 1958. Its development formed part of the modernization efforts in this new industrial city.
The art gallery in Block 3 served as a place where residents could purchase paintings and sculptures during the socialist era. This space reflected the cultural life that thrived within such residential complexes.
The site is easily accessible through multiple entrances, making it simple to explore the complex or visit its various sections. The ring formation helps visitors navigate and discover all parts of the residential area.
Block 8 earned the local nickname 'French Block' because it housed both a PBP Orbis travel agency and a branch of the PTTK tourism association. This combination made it an important hub for tourism and travel planning.
