Al Rayyan Municipality

Al Rayyan Municipality covers a large area in western Qatar with contrasting features across its territory. The eastern section contains residential neighborhoods and urban developments, while the western side is dominated by farmland and open countryside.

The municipality was established as an independent administrative unit in 1972 and later underwent significant expansion. In 2004, the neighboring Al Jemailiya Municipality was incorporated into its territory, enlarging the area and population under its administration.

The municipality holds deep roots in agricultural tradition, with farming families maintaining their practices across generations. This rural heritage shapes how communities here still live and work the land today.

The Green Line of Doha Metro connects through the eastern neighborhoods, making it easy to reach Education City and central Doha from residential areas. This rail connection provides direct access without needing a car for getting around the municipality and reaching other parts of the city.

The municipality holds a major share of Qatar's agricultural land and serves a critical role in national food production. This farming importance makes it an essential area for the country's food security and rural economy.
