Tornik ski resort, Ski resort in Zlatibor, Serbia.
Tornik ski resort is a mountain skiing area in the Zlatibor region of western Serbia, set on the slopes of the Tornik peak. A six-seat chairlift connects the base to the upper runs, and a snowmaking system keeps the slopes in condition when natural snow is low.
Zlatibor was long known as a summer retreat before the first ski facilities appeared on Tornik in the second half of the 20th century. Later investments in lift infrastructure and snowmaking turned the area into a proper winter sports destination.
Tornik draws visitors from across Serbia and the wider western Balkans, giving the slopes a lively mix of families, young groups, and experienced skiers. The mountain is considered one of the go-to winter destinations for people from Belgrade and Novi Sad looking for a weekend on the snow.
The slopes cover a range of difficulty levels, so first-time skiers and more practiced ones can both find suitable runs. Getting there is easiest by car, as the resort sits in a rural part of western Serbia with limited public transport connections.
In summer, the mountain switches to mountain biking, tubing slides, and a cart track, with rental equipment available on site. This makes Tornik one of the few spots in Serbia where outdoor leisure continues well beyond the ski season.
