Al-Rabadha, Archaeological site in eastern Medina, Saudi Arabia.

Al-Rabadha is an archaeological site in eastern Medina that preserves remains from the early Islamic period. The location contains two mosques, a fortress, residential buildings, ancient wells, and underground water storage systems spread across the grounds.

The settlement started in the early Islamic period and developed into a major stop on the pilgrimage route to Iraq during the Abbasid Caliphate. The center eventually declined and was abandoned around 931 CE.

Islamic inscriptions and everyday objects made of glass and stone can be seen here, showing how people lived and worked at this location. These findings reveal the daily life of a settlement on an important trade route.

The site is located east of Medina and is open for visitors to explore the archaeological remains. Bring appropriate clothing and water as there is little shade in this desert region.

Beneath building floors lay sophisticated underground water storage systems that show how well people of that time could overcome desert challenges. These technical solutions prove the residents had advanced knowledge in water management.
