Gissar Observatory

The Gissar Observatory is an astronomical facility in the Hisar region, positioned at roughly 743 meters elevation in Central Asia. The installation contains equipment for observing celestial objects and is registered with the code 190 at the Minor Planet Center.

The observatory was established in 1956 as an advancement for Soviet scientific research in the region. It has contributed to astronomical development in Central Asia for more than 60 years.

The facility plays a role in bringing astronomy closer to local students and researchers through partnerships with regional educational centers. Visitors notice how science is shared and practiced as a community activity rather than in isolation.
