Dushanbe Flagpole, National flagpole in central Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The Dushanbe Flagpole is a freestanding structure in the capital of Tajikistan, positioned in front of the Palace of Nations. The steel construction reaches a height that makes it visible from many parts of the city, with a national flag of considerable size flying at the top.
The structure was completed in 2011 and marked the period following Tajikistan's independence from the Soviet Union. Until 2014, the installation held the title of tallest flagpole in the world before being surpassed by other projects.
The structure sits in the center of the capital, where locals and visitors use the flagpole as a landmark for gatherings and walks in the park. The name of the structure comes directly from its function, while the national flag with its green, white, and red colors, plus a golden crown in the center, flies in the wind.
The structure is visible from several locations around the city, with the clearest view in good weather. Visitors can observe the installation from the surrounding park without needing admission.
The individual steel sections of the construction were manufactured in Dubai and assembled on site using special cranes. Each section measures roughly twelve meters and was precisely engineered to achieve the total height.
