Palace of the Nation, Presidential residence in Dushanbe, Tajikistan
The Palace of the Nation is a presidential residence in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, featuring white marble walls, multiple four-story pillars, and a golden dome topped with the national flag. The neoclassical structure includes wooden halls and stands between Shotemur and Tehran streets near Rudaki Park.
Construction began in 2000 under President Emomali Rahmon and concluded in 2008 when Italian company Codest International completed the structure. It became a central location for government operations during a period of national development.
The building appears on the reverse of the 500 Somoni banknote, symbolizing the government's authority over the nation. It represents a visual symbol of national identity that citizens encounter regularly.
The palace sits between Shotemur and Tehran streets, within walking distance of Rudaki Park, the Independence Monument, and the Dushanbe Flagpole. As an active government seat, visitor access is typically limited, but the exterior can be viewed from the street.
The presidential wooden halls received their first high-ranking foreign visitor in September 2018 when Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visited the complex. This historic visit marked the start of formal diplomatic use in these rooms.
