Rudaki-Mausoleum, Ancient memorial site in Panjrud, Tajikistan.

Rudaki-Mausoleum is a red brick structure in Panjrud featuring a central dome decorated with blue tiles and a marble sarcophagus in its spacious interior. The building showcases regional architectural traditions and serves as a memorial for an influential poet of the medieval period.

Abu-Abdullo Rudaki served the Samanid court until 937 and died in 941, making him a key figure of medieval Persian culture. The mausoleum was built in 1958 to preserve his remains and honor his legacy.

The mausoleum honors a foundational figure in Persian poetry, drawing visitors interested in understanding the cultural importance of his work across Central Asia. People who visit gain insight into how his literary contributions shaped regional identity and intellectual traditions.

The site lies roughly 60 kilometers east of Penjikent and can be reached by mountain roads leading to the village entrance marked by wooden gates. Visitors should be prepared for hilly terrain and wear appropriate footwear.

The identification of Rudaki's remains involved anthropologist Mikhail Gerasimov, who confirmed the skeleton matched an elderly blind man from historical accounts. This discovery links historical records with scientific evidence and makes the site an example of modern archaeological work.
