District of Magon, Archaeological site in Carthage, Tunisia

The Magon district extends along the Mediterranean coast, featuring structural remains from multiple historical periods and ancient defensive fortifications.

The archaeological area contains foundation blocks weighing up to 13 tons, with ramparts dating from the late 6th century BC through Roman times.

Archaeological excavations in the district reveal detailed information about residential structures and public buildings from Punic and Roman civilizations.

The site welcomes visitors daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM between September and May, with extended hours until 6:00 PM during summer months.

The district contains the sole visible section of original Carthage ramparts, accompanied by a postern gate next to the first defensive bastion.
