Kızılırmak River, Longest river in Central Anatolia, Turkey.

Kızılırmak is a river in Turkey that stretches over a thousand kilometers from the eastern mountains to the Black Sea coast near Bafra. Along its path, it flows through several provinces in Central Anatolia and forms a wide curve before reaching the sea.

The waterway served as a boundary between Lydian and Persian territories in ancient times and witnessed key events in the 6th century BC. Later it became an important reference point for different kingdoms that ruled over Anatolia.

The river's Turkish name means

Several dams along the waterway change the water level and create reservoirs that work well for observation. The banks are accessible at many points, especially near larger settlements and bridges.

The riverbed changes its width greatly depending on the season and rainfall, so the landscape along the banks shifts regularly. In the delta region near the mouth, reeds and other plants grow and provide habitat for water birds.
