Yeşilköy

Yeşilköy is a coastal residential neighborhood along the Marmara Sea with low-rise apartment buildings and green spaces distributed throughout its streets. The area transitions from waterfront to inland residential zones with parks integrated into the urban layout.

The area was where peace between the Russian Empire and the Ottoman Empire was signed in 1878, marking a crucial moment in regional history. This treaty reshaped the political landscape of the eastern Mediterranean region.

The neighborhood reflects a long history of religious diversity, visible in several places of worship including the Agios Stephanos Church and the Surp Stepanos Church. Walking through the streets, visitors encounter the traces of different faith communities that have shaped this area.

The Marmaray commuter rail connects the neighborhood to other parts of Istanbul with frequent daily services. Visitors can easily reach other districts and central areas from the station.

The lighthouse here was built in 1856 and still guides maritime traffic today. The building next to it has become a seafood restaurant, blending the area's maritime heritage with contemporary dining.
