Dikilitaş, Mersin, Ancient monument near Mersin, Turkey.

The stone monument stands 15 meters tall with a rectangular base of 4 by 2 meters, constructed from local limestone materials.

The Assyrian king Sennacherib ordered the construction of this monument to commemorate his victory against the Dorians in 696 BC.

The monument represents both Assyrian architectural traditions and military achievements through its placement on the ancient road to Tarsus.

Located 12 kilometers from Mersin city center, the archaeological site is surrounded by citrus gardens in a residential neighborhood.

The structure marks the exact location where two feuding families from Tarsus and Silifke met to reconcile their differences.
