Anamur Museum

The Anamur Museum is a two-story building with exhibition halls on the ground floor and administrative areas plus a library upstairs. The collection contains more than 11,000 objects spanning different periods, including archaeological finds, ethnographic pieces, coins, and stamps.

The museum opened in 1992 and houses artifacts from ancient civilizations that flourished in the region. Much of its collection was previously displayed in museums in neighboring areas.

The ethnography section displays regional craftsmanship through carpets, coffee preparation items, and copper vessels that reflect the daily life of local communities. These objects give visitors insight into traditional practices and skills that have been passed down through generations in the area.

The museum is located roughly 2.5 kilometers from the center of Anamur and is easily accessible by car. It is advisable to check opening hours in advance and expect varying visitor numbers depending on the season.

A standout feature of the museum is its extensive coin collection, comprising roughly 7,000 pieces from different historical periods. These coins offer visitors a fascinating window into the trade routes and economic connections of the ancient cultures that once thrived in this region.
