Kurşunlu Mosque and Complex, Ottoman mosque complex in Odunpazarı, Turkey.
The Kurşunlu Mosque and complex is located in Odunpazarı and features a central stone structure with a dome covered in lead, supported by marble columns and decorated with hand-carved designs inside. The site includes two caravanserais, a fountain, a spiritual lodge, and a soup kitchen that once served travelers and local people.
Construction of the complex took place between 1517 and 1525 under Ottoman vizier Çoban Mustafa Pasha's direction. This period marked a time of new architectural directions that introduced fresh building traditions across the Ottoman Empire.
The complex houses a market for traditional Turkish crafts, where artisans create and sell meerschaum objects, calligraphy works, and paper marbling pieces. These workshops display techniques passed down through generations of local makers.
The site is best reached on foot and sits in a historic neighborhood with traditional alleyways. Surrounding areas offer restaurants and shops that complement exploring the grounds.
Next to the complex sits the Eskişehir Meerschaum Museum, displaying handmade tobacco pipes with free entry to visitors. The museum focuses on a material that holds special importance to this region and connects visitors with its long craft tradition.
