Taipei Zoo, Public zoological garden in Wenshan District, Taipei, Taiwan
The Taipei Zoo contains numerous themed areas across 165 hectares, including exhibits for Asian elephants, giant pandas, and Formosan black bears.
Originally established in 1914 as Maruyama Zoo in northern Taipei, the facility relocated to its current location in Muzha during 1986 for expansion.
The arrival of giant pandas Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan in 2008 represented a connection between Taiwan and mainland China through animal diplomacy.
The zoo operates from 9:00 to 17:00 daily, with extended hours until 21:00 during July and August weekends for nocturnal animal observation.
The Pangolin Dome, completed in 2019, educates visitors about wildlife trafficking while housing multiple tropical rainforest species in specialized environments.
