Taipei Post Office

The Taipei Post Office is a four-story postal facility in Zhongzheng District featuring large columns and a spacious central hall that dominates its interior layout. Its location near the North Gate makes it a recognizable landmark in the district's streetscape.

The original postal facility from 1892 was destroyed in 1913, prompting the reconstruction of the current building starting in 1928. Architect Shunichi Kuriyama completed this new structure in 1930, establishing the landmark that stands today.

The building displays elements of traditional Taiwanese architecture through its light-brown Beitou tiles and decorative pebble patterns on its walls. These design choices reflect local craftsmanship and how the structure became a symbol of the district's identity over time.

The building is centrally located and accessible on foot, with clear access from the North Gate area. Keep in mind this is an active workplace, so visitor hours may be limited depending on postal operations.

The exterior walls display signs of aging with occasional falling tiles, while the structure maintains its original wooden doors and vintage architectural details. These visible marks of time give the building an authentic character that reflects its long history.
