National Chung Hsing University is a public institution located in South District, Taichung, Taiwan. Its faculties cover agriculture, engineering, science, and veterinary medicine, drawing students from across the country.
The institution began in 1919 as the Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry, taking its present name only in 1971. Over the decades, it grew from a specialized school into a multidisciplinary research university.
International students participate in programs exploring indigenous Taiwanese culture while the university maintains strong connections with educational institutions in Australia.
The campus covers roughly 53 hectares (131 acres) and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. Many buildings remain open to visitors during weekdays, though some areas stay restricted to the public.
The institution operates four experimental forests scattered across Taiwan for agricultural and forestry research. These remote sites give students hands-on experience with ecological processes and sustainable natural resource management.
