Central Taiwan Science Park, Science and technology park in Taichung, Taiwan
Central Taiwan Science Park is a large industrial and research complex in Taichung built to house semiconductor manufacturing, biotechnology research, and precision machinery production. The site comprises several specialized zones with modern facilities designed to support advanced technological work.
The park received approval from the Executive Yuan in 2002 and opened officially in 2003, with AU Optronics as an early major tenant. Its establishment made it a key center for Taiwan's semiconductor and technology research in the Taichung region.
The park maintains strong connections with local universities and research institutions, creating an environment where 53,000 professionals collaborate on technological innovations.
The site is equipped with modern roads, utilities, and transportation connections linking major Taiwanese cities. Visiting is best done by car since the park spreads across multiple zones and walking between sectors is not practical.
A single chip manufacturer generates nearly half of the park's total revenue and drives much of its economic growth. This concentration shows how the semiconductor industry dominates the economic activity within the entire complex.
