Guomao Community, Military dependents' village in Zuoying District, Taiwan.
Guomao Community is a residential settlement in Zuoying consisting of thirteen tower buildings, each twelve stories tall, arranged around a central park. The complex forms a self-contained neighborhood with ground-floor shops, markets, and restaurants for daily living.
The settlement was built in the 1960s to house military personnel and their families who came from mainland China to Taiwan. It grew to become the largest military community on the island, shaping the urban development of the region.
The residents trace their roots to different regions of mainland China, and this heritage appears in the ground-floor restaurants and shops of the buildings. You can find regional cuisines and businesses that reflect the customs brought from across the strait.
The complex is easily accessible from the nearby Zuoying-Jiucheng Station, making it simple to reach on foot. The area is walkable, and strolling around the central park gives you a clear sense of the neighborhood's layout and daily rhythms.
Buildings eight and nine curve in a semicircular pattern around the central park, creating a distinctive architectural arrangement. This curved design sets these two towers apart from the other rectangular structures in the community.
