Kuanhsi Taihe Temple, Chinese temple in Guanxi, Taiwan.
Kuanhsi Taihe Temple is a county-level monument and Chinese temple located in Guanxi, in northern Taiwan. The building features the decorated roof ridges, carved wooden beams, and stone details that are common in traditional Taiwanese temple construction.
The temple was founded in the late 1700s by Hakka settlers who had established a community in what was then called Meili Village. It is one of the oldest religious buildings in the area and has gone through several rounds of restoration over the centuries.
The temple is a gathering point for the local Hakka community, where people come to make offerings, light incense, and mark the changing seasons together. On festival days, the courtyard fills with activity and the air carries the scent of burning incense and paper offerings.
The temple sits close to Guanxi Old Street and is easy to reach from National Freeway 3, with parking available nearby. A visit pairs well with a walk along the old street, which runs just a short distance away.
Although the temple sits in Hakka territory, its design brings together elements from several Chinese religious traditions in a combination rarely seen elsewhere. Some of the carving motifs near the entrance are credited to local craftsmen and do not appear in the same form in any other temple in the surrounding area.
