尖美百貨, Department store in Sanmin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
尖美百貨 (Jianmei Department Store) is a multi-story mixed-use building on Dachang Second Road in the Sanmin District of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The lower floors were dedicated to retail, while the upper levels housed a hotel and a rotating restaurant.
The complex was built and opened in 1993 by the Zhang family's Jianmei Construction Group. It closed in 2000, ending its role as a retail and hotel destination in the district.
In the 1990s, the building was a meeting point for people in the Sanmin District who came to shop and eat. Its position near a busy night market area made it a natural stop during evening outings.
The building sits in a busy commercial area of the Sanmin District, within easy walking distance of other shops and markets. The area is active during both day and evening hours, making it straightforward to find.
A rotating restaurant was rare in Taiwan in the early 1990s, and this building had one on its upper floors. Diners could watch the city slowly change around them without leaving their table.
