Railway Department Park, History museum near Taipei Station, Taiwan
The Railway Department Park consists of multiple buildings showcasing the evolution of Taiwan's railway system through exhibits, models, and historical artifacts from 1887.
The site originated in 1884 as a Machinery Bureau for military weapons before transforming into the Taipei Railway Factory under Japanese administration in 1900.
The National Taiwan Museum maintains exhibitions about the railway's influence on Taiwan's development, featuring original documents, photographs, and interactive displays for visitors.
Located at the intersection of Zhongxiao West Road and Yanping North Road, the museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
The museum includes an octagonal washroom from 1919, a wartime command center from 1943, and a canteen built using recycled materials from 1932.
