The Ilyas-Kaya via ferrata is a climbing route with 16 different sections on the rock faces near Sevastopol. The route spans approximately 3,300 meters (10,827 feet) of steel cables and metal rungs fixed to vertical rock surfaces.
The first section opened during the Great Sevastopol Trail Festival in 2018, drawing over 300 climbers in three days. The larger project began as a regional initiative to develop the area for outdoor recreation.
The climbing route is part of the Great Sevastopol Trail project, which aims to develop outdoor activities across the region. Visitors can experience how the area opens itself to climbers and hikers of different levels.
The route is free to access year-round, with information boards at each starting point displaying safety instructions and equipment requirements. Visitors should bring appropriate climbing shoes and safety gear or arrange to obtain them at the site.
The route starts from the Sevastopol-Yalta road near the Izumrud resort and ascends through the lower rock belt of the southern wall of Delikli-Burun. This location offers climbers of various skill levels different difficulty grades to choose from.
