Dallas is a borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, set in the Back Mountain region of the state. The area is made up of residential streets, small shops, wooded hillsides, open green spaces, and working farms that give it a rural feel.
The first settlers arrived in the region in the late 1700s, clearing forested land to establish farms. The community was formally organized as Dallas Township in 1817, taking its name from Alexander J. Dallas, who served as US Secretary of the Treasury.
Dallas is known among locals as 'The Pride of the Back Mountain', a nickname that reflects how residents feel about their corner of Pennsylvania.
