Moreland Hills, human settlement in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States of America
Moreland Hills is a village located just east of Cleveland that spreads across a small area of homes and parks. The area features wide streets lined with large trees, many houses on spacious lots, and the Chagrin River flowing through the landscape.
The area was first settled in the early 1800s as families built farms and small businesses. The village officially became a municipality in 1929, and growth accelerated after the railroad arrived at the end of the 19th century.
The name comes from the rolling terrain that characterizes the land. Today residents gather in parks and green spaces for walks and community events, creating a close-knit neighborhood feeling.
The village is easy to explore with clearly laid out streets and nearby highway access. Parks and walking trails are readily accessible for visitors seeking outdoor activities.
James A. Garfield, the 20th president of the United States, was born here in 1831 and fondly called the area his Greenwich. A memorial cabin near Village Hall marks his birthplace and the community's connection to American presidential history.
