Farmingdale, Village in Nassau County, New York, US.
Farmingdale is a village in Nassau County that spans roughly 1 square mile of land. It centers on a Village Green and main commercial district along Main Street, with residential neighborhoods filling the surrounding area.
The settlement began in 1687 when Thomas Powell acquired a large tract of land from three Native American tribes through the Bethpage Purchase. This early land agreement shaped the foundation of what would become the village.
The village hosts summer concerts, movie nights, and winter parades throughout the year that draw residents together. These gatherings shape how people experience and connect with their community.
The Long Island Rail Road station and Republic Airport provide transportation links, while NY Route 24 offers road access to surrounding areas. Visitors have multiple ways to reach and explore this compact village.
In 2023 the village launched an infrastructure project to bury utility lines underground and expand pedestrian areas along Main Street. This modernization effort is reshaping the look and walkability of the downtown.
