Bluebird Gap Farm is an educational farm and zoo covering 60 acres in Hampton, Virginia. It houses around 250 animals from 25 species, ranging from domestic livestock to native wildlife and birds, each living in separate enclosures or natural habitats.
The farm opened in 1966 as Old MacDonald's Farm near Hampton Coliseum. It relocated to its current home on Pine Chapel Road in 1969, beginning with a collection of 105 animals.
The antique barn displays everyday objects and tools that show how farming and family life worked in earlier times. Walking through these exhibits helps visitors understand the daily routines and skills that shaped the local community.
The farm is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM with no entry fee required. Feed for the animals is available at self-service machines scattered throughout the property so visitors can interact with the creatures.
The Powhatan Pavilion can host up to 100 people for gatherings on the property. The Azalea Trail winds along Newmarket Creek, offering walks where visitors spot local plants and wildlife along the water.
