Bowman's Hill Tower

Bowman's Hill Tower is a stone observation structure that rises 125 feet (38 meters) above the hilltop and sits within the historic park grounds. From the viewing area, visitors can see across to the Delaware River and the rolling countryside beyond.

The structure was constructed between 1929 and 1931 using materials quarried locally and assembled on site. This period saw the creation of many memorial buildings dedicated to American history.

The tower stands within Washington Crossing Historic Park and connects visitors to the American Revolutionary period. The structure serves as a reminder of this location's importance in United States history.

Visitors can reach the viewing platform using an elevator for most of the ascent, followed by a short spiral staircase to the upper level. This combination of access routes makes the journey manageable for most visitors.

The exterior of the tower features copper cables installed in 1934 as a lightning protection system after the structure was struck multiple times. This visible safety feature demonstrates how early engineers addressed natural hazards.
