Daniel Boone Bridge, Highway bridge across Missouri River near St. Louis, Missouri, United States
The Daniel Boone Bridge is a cantilever bridge that crosses the Missouri River between St. Louis County and St. Charles County. It carries four lanes of eastbound traffic and three lanes of westbound traffic as part of Interstate 64.
The original structure opened in 1937 as a Public Works Administration project built by the Kansas City Bridge Company. A complete replacement was finished in 2015, with the new bridge incorporating modern engineering standards.
The bridge connects travelers to the Missouri region through its bicycle and pedestrian pathway, linking the Katy Trail to the Monarch Levee Trail system.
The bridge is open to vehicular traffic around the clock and features a pedestrian and bicycle pathway for non-vehicle users. Access points are located at both ends, connecting to local trails and streets.
The bridge was designed with provisions for future expansion to accommodate additional lanes beyond the current seven. This forward-thinking design allows the infrastructure to adapt as traffic needs evolve in the region.
