Zaraza is a city in Guárico within Venezuela's Llanos region, surrounded by flat plains and expansive open spaces. The streets are wide and simple houses are spread throughout, giving the city a calm, spacious character.
Zaraza was founded in 1646 and originally known as Chaguaramal del Batey before being renamed in 1853 to honor independence fighter Pedro Zaraza. The city grew from a small farming settlement into an important hub for the Llanos region.
