Mukalla

Located on the Gulf of Aden, Mukalla extends along the coastline with numerous fishing boats dotting its harbor and mountains rising in the background.

The settlement, established in 1035 as a fishing village, developed into a major port under the Qu'aiti State of Hadhramaut during British influence.

The old town district contains traditional Yemeni architecture with carved wooden doors, stone buildings, and a network of narrow streets leading to the waterfront.

The city port accommodates vessels up to 150 meters in length and maintains facilities for processing fish, cement, and petroleum products throughout the year.

The fisheries sector of Mukalla produces specialized fish meal products and operates multiple processing plants along the Gulf of Aden coast.
