Mukalla

Mukalla is a port city in Hadhramaut Region that stretches along the Gulf of Aden coast, with fishing boats dotting its harbor and mountains rising behind the waterfront. The center features a mix of harbor facilities and older residential areas that form the core of daily activity.

The settlement began as a fishing village in 1035 and later grew into a major port under the Qu'aiti State of Hadhramaut. The period of British influence shaped its development as a trading center.

The old town displays traditional Yemeni architecture with carved wooden doors and stone buildings arranged in narrow passages that lead toward the water. These structures shape how the place looks and reveal the everyday life of its long-standing community.
