Phuket province spans across 576 square kilometers, including the main island and 32 smaller islands along the Andaman Sea coast of Thailand.
The province played a crucial role in international maritime trade routes between India and China during the 17th century, attracting merchants from Portugal and France.
The Two Heroines Monument represents the leadership of Thao Thep Kasattri and Thao Si Sunthon, who defended Phuket against Burmese invasion in 1785.
The province contains three administrative districts: Thalang in the north, Kathu in the west, and Muang in the south, with 17 subdistricts managing local affairs.
Phuket stands as Thailand's smallest province by land area and maintains its position as the only island province in the country.
