Pokrovsk Raion

Pokrovsk Raion extends across 1,316 square kilometers in eastern Ukraine, containing fourteen distinct municipal communities called hromadas with Pokrovsk as its capital.

The district underwent administrative reform on July 19, 2020, marking a significant restructuring of local governance in Donetsk Oblast through the consolidation of smaller administrative units.

The district population includes forty-four nationalities, with Ukrainians representing 86.8 percent, Russians 11.3 percent, and Belarusians 0.7 percent according to census data.

The district maintains essential infrastructure through its network of hromadas, including urban centers like Avdiivka, Dobropillia, and rural communities such as Kryvorizhia and Shakhove.

In May 2014, the district authorities requested integration into neighboring Dnipropetrovsk Oblast due to regional instability, reflecting complex territorial dynamics.
