Chase Tower, Bank building in Chicago Loop, United States
Chase Tower is a bank building in Chicago's Loop district with 60 floors and a reflective glass exterior that complements the downtown skyline. The skyscraper serves as the central headquarters for JPMorgan Chase's commercial and retail banking operations across the United States and Canada.
The building was completed in 1969, replacing the historic Morrison Hotel that previously occupied the site. It originally opened as First National Plaza but was renamed Bank One Tower in 1998 before taking its current name.
The auditorium below the plaza hosted NPR's "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!" radio show, which drew people who wanted to watch recordings being made. This broadcasting history connected the building to Chicago's media and comedy scene.
The building is easily accessible by the Loop elevated train system and sits in the heart of the financial district. Weekdays see the most foot traffic, but the plaza level offers public access to outdoor spaces around the tower.
This skyscraper is the tallest structure located entirely within the boundary formed by the Loop elevated train tracks. This geographic distinction makes it a landmark defined by the path of the iconic elevated railway system.
