Nouasseur Air Base

Nouasseur Air Base was a military air base near Casablanca with runways designed for heavy aircraft and extensive support facilities. The installation included hangars, maintenance shops, and administrative buildings to handle large-scale flight operations.

The base was established in 1951 as a strategic American air force facility during the Cold War. It served as an operations center for long-range bombers and was part of broader Western military presence in North Africa.

The installation maintained connections with local Moroccan communities while serving as a point of interaction between American military personnel and regional inhabitants.

The site is within accessible distance of Casablanca, but the area is now primarily dedicated to flight operations. Visitors should understand that the facility, after its transformation into civilian airport operations, now operates under civil administration.

After American forces withdrew in 1963, the military installation was converted into Mohammed V International Airport. This transformation made it one of the region's largest airports and showed how military infrastructure could serve civilian purposes.
