Taqiyatas district, Administrative district in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan
Taqiyatas district is an administrative region in Karakalpakstan that spans agricultural areas and settlements across flat terrain. Its network of roads and railways connects local communities and links the region to the Amu Darya delta area.
The district was created in 2017 as part of an administrative reform when the former Xojeli district was divided. This reorganization adjusted administrative boundaries to better serve the region's changing needs and population.
The region is home to Karakalpak, Uzbek, and Kazak communities who speak their own languages and follow traditional farming methods. These groups have preserved their customs and shape daily life in the villages and across the agricultural lands.
The area is connected by railways to neighboring countries like Turkmenistan, and nearby airports provide flights to major cities. Visitors should plan trips during cooler months, as summers in the region are extremely hot and uncomfortable for travel.
Cotton, alfalfa, rice, and corn are cultivated across the district's fields using farming methods adapted to the harsh delta conditions. Farmers have developed generations of knowledge to cope with water scarcity and soil changes in this challenging environment.
