The lake extends for 3 kilometers through residential areas, with varying widths between 35 and 100 meters and a maximum depth of 4.77 meters.
The water body originated as an abandoned channel of the Karwan Bazar Nadi river system, which previously connected to the Turag River through the Dhaka region.
The lake area includes parks, an amphitheater, and walking paths where local residents gather for exercise, social interactions, and outdoor activities throughout the day.
A network of bridges and planned walkways surrounds the entire water body, providing multiple access points and viewing locations for visitors.
The lake system maintains 16 percent of Dhanmondi's total area and functions as a critical drainage infrastructure through a box culvert near Sukrabad.
