Vallès Oriental

Vallès Oriental is a comarca in Barcelona Province comprising 39 municipalities scattered across valleys and rolling terrain between the Montseny and Marina mountain ranges. The landscape alternates between agricultural valleys, residential towns, and forested hillsides.

The region was primarily agricultural for centuries before transforming into an industrial hub during the 19th century textile boom. Mills and factories emerged in valleys and towns, reshaping settlement patterns and local economies.

Each municipality here maintains weekly traditional markets selling local products from surrounding farms and workshops. These gatherings remain central to how communities connect and support their neighbors.

Granollers serves as the main hub with direct train connections to Barcelona and bus services linking the municipalities. Good public transportation makes it straightforward to explore different towns and valleys.

The racing circuit in Montmeló stands in contrast to the rural towns and agricultural terrain surrounding it. Motorsport events draw enthusiasts from across Europe to what is otherwise a quiet corner of the region.
