Turlough Hill, Mountain summit in County Wicklow, Ireland.
Turlough Hill reaches an elevation of 681 meters and contains granite formations, with Lough Nahanagan lake positioned on its northeastern side.
The mountain underwent significant changes in 1968 when construction began for Ireland's first pumped-storage hydroelectric facility, which became operational in 1974.
Local residents traditionally called this peak Tomaneena before the establishment of the Electricity Supply Board's power generation facility changed its name.
A tarmac access road from Wicklow Gap leads directly to the summit, providing an alternative route to the multiple hiking paths available.
The mountain houses an underground cavern measuring 250 by 70 by 90 feet that contains four reversible pump turbines for electricity generation.
