Ubeidiya prehistoric site, Archaeological site near Sea of Galilee, Israel
The excavation site spans across multiple geological layers, containing stone tools, human bones, and remains of extinct animals near the Jordan River.
Discovered in 1959, the site contains evidence of early human migration from Africa, with artifacts dating back approximately 1.5 million years.
The location holds over 10,000 ancient stone tools and remnants that demonstrate the manufacturing techniques and social patterns of early human populations.
The archaeological site, located 3 kilometers south of Sea of Galilee, maintains restricted access for researchers and scheduled guided tours.
A complete hominin vertebra found in 2022 represents the oldest human skeletal evidence discovered in the Middle East region.
