Marble Rocks, Canyon and waterfall near Bhedaghat, India
Marble Rocks is a canyon and waterfall near Bhedaghat where white marble walls rise about 100 feet high along the Narmada River, forming a gorge that stretches roughly three kilometers. The natural rock formations create a maze-like setting as the river winds through the towering white cliffs.
The name Bandar Kudni comes from an old story about monkeys leaping across the marble walls in a single jump. The gorge itself was carved over millions of years by the Narmada River eroding through marble stone.
During the Sharad Purnima festival, people gather here for moonlit boat rides on the Narmada River as part of traditional spiritual practices. The full moon nights bring communities together to experience the glowing marble walls from the water.
You can explore the rocks through cable car rides and boat tours, with the most comfortable visiting time from October through April. During other seasons, especially monsoon months, water conditions become rougher and some routes may be less accessible.
The Dhuandhar Falls create a smoke-like mist as water tumbles through the marble canyon, giving the waterfall its name which means smoke flow. This misty effect is especially noticeable in daylight hours and changes appearance based on water levels and light conditions.
