Ichari Dam

The concrete structure on the Tons River measures 59 meters in height and 155 meters in length, with a reservoir capacity of 8,930,000 cubic meters.

The construction of Ichari Dam finished in 1972, marking the beginning of a new era of hydroelectric power generation in Northern India.

The name of the dam originates from the local village Ichari, connecting the infrastructure to the identity of the surrounding communities.

The dam supplies water to the Chibro Power Station, generating 240 megawatts of electricity before redirecting flow to Khodri Power Station for additional generation.

Seven floodgates across the dam's crest manage the spillway system, allowing a maximum water discharge of 13,500 cubic meters per second.
