Madhur

Madhur is a Hindu temple in Kasargod located on the banks of the Mogral river, featuring a three-tiered copper-plated dome. The interior walls display detailed wooden carvings that illustrate scenes from the Ramayana epic.

According to tradition, an elderly woman named Madaru discovered an uncarved Shiva Linga, which led to the establishment of this sanctuary many centuries ago. The temple became an important site in the region's spiritual landscape and remains significant to pilgrims.

The temple serves as a gathering place for the local community, especially during religious festivals and daily worship. Visitors can observe how people practice their faith and spend time together here.

Visitors should plan to arrive during early morning or late evening when the sanctuary is open for worship. Bus services from Kasaragod railway station provide convenient access to reach the temple.

On one wall, visitors can spot a sword mark said to have been made by Tipu Sultan after he drank water at the well. This subtle mark is often overlooked by guests, though it connects the sanctuary to an important regional ruler.
