Zhonglu, Tibetan mountain village in Danba County, China
Located in the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, Zhonglu stands at 2,100 meters elevation with traditional white houses and golden temple roofs.
Dating back to 500 BC, the village developed through centuries of interaction between Tibetan and Qiangic peoples, leading to the construction of defensive watchtowers.
The Jiarong Tibetan inhabitants of Zhonglu maintain their traditions through agriculture, performing arts like the Guozhuang Dance, and religious practices at Mountain Moerduo.
Visitors can reach Zhonglu by taking a 10-hour bus from Chengdu's Chadianzi station to Danba, followed by a local bus or a two-hour walk.
The village name translates to 'worship place together of human and God' in Tibetan, while in Chinese it means 'Central Road'.
