Gentofte Municipality, Municipality and administrative division in Capital Region, Denmark.
Gentofte Municipality encompasses seven districts spread across 25 square kilometers, featuring residential areas, lakes, parks, and coastal regions along the Øresund Sound.
The municipality was established in 1842 through the amalgamation of three former towns - Gentofte, Vangede, and Ordrup - with Charlottenlund designated as its capital.
The region maintains six libraries, multiple art museums including Ordrupgaard and Øregaard, plus the Bellevue Theatre designed by architect Arne Jacobsen.
The municipal council consists of 19 elected members who govern local affairs and provide services to approximately 75,000 residents across the municipality.
The municipality houses Bernstorff Palace, constructed in 1765, and retained its independent status during the nationwide municipal reforms of 2007.
