The stadium construction began in 2013 and reached completion in 2018, with an investment of 7.1 billion Algerian Dinars from regional development funds.

The stadium bears the name of Abdelkrim Kerroum, a national team player who represented Algeria in international competitions during the 1960s.

The facility includes four changing rooms, electronic entrance gates, remote surveillance systems, and additional amenities such as a restaurant and café.

The stadium design excludes a running track around the main field, creating direct proximity between spectators and the playing surface.
