TT219, Ancient tomb in Deir el-Medina, Egypt.

TT219 is an ancient tomb in Deir el-Medina decorated with paintings on white backgrounds in shades of yellow, red, and black. The scenes cover religious ceremonies and family moments spread across the interior walls of the chamber.

The tomb was discovered in 1928 by Bernard Bruyère and belonged to Nebenmaat, son of Amennakht, who worked as a Servant in the Place of Truth under Ramesses II. The family was part of the skilled workers community serving the pharaoh.

The wall paintings show funeral processions and preparations for the afterlife, revealing how ancient Egyptians understood death and the journey beyond. These scenes offer insight into the religious beliefs and family bonds that were central to their society.

The tomb opened to the public in May 2016 after comprehensive restoration that cleared the floors and added protective glass panels. The walls and decorations are now accessible for visits in controlled conditions.

The tomb sits between the burial sites of Nebenmaat's father and brother, forming a family complex that shows how multiple generations of one family were buried here. This arrangement helps archaeologists understand how close connections were within craftworker families.
