Lac de Retournemer is a mountain lake in the Vosges region, situated in a basin carved by glacial activity. The water is surrounded by forests and hiking trails that offer views across the surrounding peaks.
This lake formed during the last Ice Age when glaciers in the Vosges carved deep valleys into the mountainside. Meltwater from retreating ice eventually filled the basin to create the lake we see today.
